WSP is currently initiating a search for an Entry-level Transit Planner for our Tampa, Florida office. The person is expected to assist with various transit planning tasks related to the preparation of long range plans, feasibility studies, environmental documents, and implementation plans.
The successful candidate must be a team player and a self-starter, demonstrate strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and have a demonstrated working knowledge of transportation planning policies and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contributes as a member of multi-disciplinary teams to transit planning and design efforts
  • Conducts or assists with a range of transportation planning studies, including needs assessments, transit modal analyses, transit alternative analysis studies, transit NEPA projects, and long-range planning for demand response and fixed guideway planning
  • Develops mapping and graphical material to communicate concepts to clients and stakeholders
  • Prepares briefings and presentations for clients, the public, and other stakeholders
  • Prepares and reviews written technical reports

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Planning, or Masters in Planning
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical, strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Enjoys working on multiple transit and planning projects concurrently, ability to multi-task, take initiative and ask questions for a deeper understanding of assigned tasks
  • Must have the ability to immediately work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree is a plus
  • Internship with a transit agency
  • Well-versed in MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS
  • Understanding Federal Transit Administration regulations and policies
