Job Description


Summary:

Environmental Managers primary responsibility is to manage environmental compliance on the project from design through completion. This includes managing the acquisition of environmental permits, development and implementation of the project Environmental Plan, environmental recordkeeping and reporting, inspections and monitoring, development and implementation of employee training programs, and coaching and developing staff with environmental responsibilities. Environmental Manager works with the design-build management team to secure third party environmental consultants as needed and to leads efforts to address concerns, corrective and preventive actions as they arise. Environmental Manager implements the Company Environmental Management System on the project.

Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:
Manage environmental compliance throughout the project contract
Be familiar with the contract requirements, specifications and Best Management Practices for stormwater, erosion and sediment controls, surface water management, turbidity monitoring and mitigation, dewatering, wildlife and wetland monitoring and impact mitigation, remediation, and spill prevention and response
Develop and implement environmental protection plans, submittals, and records
Develop the project specific SWPPP and administer it on the project.
Train Field Engineers and Superintendents to help administer the SWPPP and identify corrective action need for the SWPPP
Be the liaison between project management, the Client, regulators and environmental consultants on environmental matters
Manage work performed by environmental consultants as needed
Coach, manage, and develop environmental staff
Manage the environmental inspection and testing requirements
Develop and implement an environmental training program to improve awareness and competence
Report pertinent information to project management and corporate environmental personnel
Manage due diligence efforts with land use, fill and borrow sites
Be familiar with industry and governmental regulatory requirements and pending changes
Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
And other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
5-7 years experience with compliance, permitting, writing and implementing plans, performing due diligence, erosion control inspection, conducting training, and audits in the transportation construction industries
BS in Engineering, Environmental, or Geo Sciences
Regulatory knowledge of NPDES, CAA, RCRA, CERCLA, EPCRA, 401, 404, NHESP, and SPCC
Experience with sustainability tracking, wetland and species protection, and contaminated soil management a plus
Prefer experience managing direct reports and working with ISO 14001
MS, PE, NREM/NREP, CPESC, CESSWI, HAZWOPER, and CHMP preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
