POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of environmental field studies, reporting, and project planning tasks in support of engineering, planning, and construction teams. Position involves an estimated 25-30 percent travel to project sites (mostly local with some out-of-town). Applicant must possess good writing and organizational skills. Report preparation/environmental permitting is estimated to comprise about 50 percent of applicants duties.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform desktop environmental reviews of proposed project sites during project planning.
  • Conduct site visits with a multi-disciplinary team to assess federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Perform report writing, permit application preparation, and e-mail communication. Applicant must possess good writing skills and have a high attention to detail.
  • Perform wetland assessments and/or delineations.
  • Perform threatened and endangered species habitat assessments and occasional surveys.
  • Interact with a multi-disciplinary project team in project planning to include engineers, construction managers, safety professionals, and technicians.
  • Provide project execution support to construction crews during kick-off meetings and at construction sites.
  • Conduct Soil Erosion and Sediment Control inspections at construction sites.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with project personnel, co-workers, and construction teams.
  • Read, comprehend, and apply environmental regulations to project activities.
  • Conduct periodic field sampling, including soil and ground water.
  • Perform various project related field and office tasks requiring the application of standard environmental principles and practices.
  • Apply and conform work activities to Parsons and client health and safety programs while performing or overseeing tasks.
  • Take direction from multiple senior managers on different projects

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline and typically 3+ years of related work experience.

Skills/Competencies:

Working knowledge of software packages typically associated with the discipline is required. A familiarity with environmental rules and regulations is preferred.
