Facility Design Specialist

WSP is seeking self-starting technically oriented individual to assist in our transit facility design business.  Applicants must be well organized and possess strong writing and communication skills.  Duties include facilities programming/design, workflow/job analysis, equipment layouts/specifications and inter-discipline design coordination of industrial operational requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Initial Assignment Responsibilities (2 Years):
  • Must be located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
  • Full-time (40 hours/ week) commitment to the project.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment on tasks with urgency.
  • Support development of correspondence to contractor.
  • Support technical review of RFI’s and development of responses.
  • Support internal team coordination as needed.
  • Support coordination and communication with client/ owner as needed.
  • Develop content for responses to client/ owner requests for information.
Future Assignment Responsibilities:
  • Direct industrial design activities for shop maintenance projects varying from new structures to rehabilitating existing facilities and yards. Projects will typically include service tracks/bays, paint & body, support shops, parts storage, vehicle wash and fuel & sand system design elements.
  • Conduct programming, master planning, conceptual design, shop equipment selection/layout/specification, inter-discipline design coordination and construction administration support.
  • Determining size and configuration of transit maintenance facilities; including shop, office, welfare and exterior areas.
  • Layout of maintenance support shops and associated industrial equipment.
  • Coordinating utility and structural requirements of industrial maintenance equipment.
  • Writing and reviewing equipment specifications and submittals to meet client operational needs.
  • Ability to travel for project work.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7 minimum years’ professional experience.
  • BS in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS-Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Solid team participation and collaboration skills.
  • Design/Build project experience, preferred.
  • Rail transit design experience, preferred.
