 Job Description: Field Engineer

Pay Range           Commensurate with Industry Experience

Schedule             Typically Monday through Friday working as many hours as necessary to successfully perform the job

Travel                  Occasional travel throughout the metropolitan area and/or relocation if required



The Field Engineer personnel are responsible for the paperwork associated with safety, submittals, RFI's, filing, meeting direction and note taking, and close-out on construction projects. Safety is the number one priority at Webber Commercial and the Field Engineer personnel are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices with the other field management personnel. Field Engineer personnel are expected to work with all people associated with all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish operational priorities and ensure a quality project. Field Engineer personnel are expected to maintain positive and effective working relationships with both internal and external members of the Project Team and support departments.



Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs with the support and direction from a Project Manager, Superintendent or Senior Manager
  • Work and understand project requirements associated with submittals, RFI's, meeting minutes, filing and project close out documents and provide support and take direction from a Project Engineer and/or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Ability to utilize software programs and templates to process, distribute and track all project documentation.
  • Perform following duties with support and direction from a Project Engineer and/or Assistant Superintendent.
    • Work with project team on writing RFI's and distribution to subcontractors.
    • Work with subcontractors on receiving submittals and providing review of them against the project plans and specifications.
    • Understand project paperwork flow.
    • Work with project team on taking minutes during meeting and publishing them to project team.
    • Perform filing of paperwork associated with project both in hard copy format and in the project management software system in correct CSI format.
    • Work with project team to perform closeout.
  • Follow training from Project Engineer and Assistant Superintendent or other Senior Management to apply skills associated with completing project paperwork, follow up with project requirements, and learning new skills related to project management skills listed above.
  • Provide leadership in a professional manner with all team members through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork. Communicate effectively; both written and verbal with support and direction from a Project Engineer or other Management.



  1. Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar, is required.
  2. Minimum of zero or more years of related experience as outlined in this job summary
  3. Moderate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, P6 Scheduling Software and Program Management Software.
  4. Ability communicate in English via verbal and written communications
  5. Ability to apply concepts of basic math, algebra and geometry.
  6. Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
  7. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  8. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  9. Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
  10. Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
  11. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
