WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Field Laboratory Technicianfor our Albuquerque, New Mexico office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform sampling of earthwork, hot-mix asphalt, base course, and crushed material at highway construction sites, portable crushers, and hot-mix plants
  • Perform field laboratory testing of earthwork, backfill, hot-mix, base course, and other highway materials as per NMDOT minimum testing requirements, contract specifications, and AASHTO/ASTM testing procedures
  • Perform laboratory tests such as but not limted to: gradations, proctors (soil density and moisture), R-Value, fractured face, liquid limit, sand equivalence, and asphalt content
  • Document all test results electronically and by paper filing using prescribed forms and spreadsheets
  • Prepare and submit monthly summary of testing credit reports
  • Keep supervisor informed of all test results within 24 hours of completing the test
  • Report pay quantities in SiteManager or field source books

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, at least 2 years of which must include Highway and Bridge Construction field laboratory materials sampling and testing
  • Computer literacy, including working familiarity with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Ability to establish computerized project data files and to develop and modify project computer forms and programs
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures  
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies  
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Registrations/Certifications Required (past or present certification OR ability to attain within 2 months of hire)
  • TTCP or ACNM Aggregate Materials Testing Certification
  • TTCP Hot Mix Certification 
  • TTCP Soils Certification
  • TTCP-Technician Training and Certification Program
