Job Description

The Fleet Manager will report directly to the Mechanical Department Director and will partner with Lane field operations to manage all aspects of our registered vehicle asset inventory currently comprised of more than 2,500 light & medium vehicles and heavy duty trucks & trailers.

Responsibilities:

  • Update company vehicle policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and profitability and minimize liability exposure including acquisition, registration, maintenance, and remarketing best practices, and optimizing the life cycles of our registered vehicles.
  • Update and refine our vehicle selector with an emphasis on fit for purpose, standardization, and sustainability.
  • Administer and improve upon our annual (or bi-annual) vehicle ordering process.
  • Conduct field audits of our vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Oversee and update the employee vehicle allowance (EVA) program.
  • Development and implementation of fuel savings programs for fleet vehicles.
  • Manage current and potential leasing companies, vehicle manufacturers, vehicle vendors, equipment/up-fit suppliers, and fleet related industry associations.
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
  • And other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required in business, management, finance, engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibilities in management of leased vehicle fleet of 500+ units.
  • Exposure to and understanding of heavy civil construction industry.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of management and field operations
  • Knowledge and use of fleet analytics and applications in determining best practices/methods for maximizing productivity through all levels of company vehicle operations.
  • High degree of technical aptitude to determine appropriate vehicles and specifications that will maximize efficiency and profitability to the company.
  • Highly motivated self- starter, forward thinking team player. Driven by results.
  • Mindset for planning, preparing, and being organized.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to collect and interpret relevant data to perform financial analysis in determining appropriate and cost effective vehicle life cycling.
  • Knowledge developing and implement fleet programs that align with our organizations business plans and long term strategies
  • Willing to travel 25% of time (+/-).
  • Strong math and computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with JDEdwards or similar ERP system a plus.
