General Superintendent - Roadway

Position Summary

The Superintendent will be responsible for the field planning and management process of the roadway/earthworks related aspects of construction projects. The Superintendent ensures that the quality of work and materials are upheld and that the schedule is followed as planned as well as enforces and adheres to Company™s safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value “ Safety first, in everything we do.
  • Provide support, direction, and guidelines for project operational issues to Project Managers, Superintendents and Foremen.
  • Organize and plan the job with the Project Manager and assist as required
  • Develop and maintain client, subcontractor and team member relationships
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing the overall schedule pertaining to Utilities.
  • Review, maintain, and monitor crew™s productivity and goals daily
  • Review cost reports monthly, initiate field change requests, and prepare vendor or subcontractor back charges with the Project Manager/Project Engineer
  • Enforce quality control and Company safety policies on all aspects of construction
  • Visit all construction sites as needed on a routine basis for:
    • Production evaluations,
    • Discuss with Superintendent any projected schedule/equipment and labor problems,
    • Discuss daily huddle mandates,
    • Project housekeeping,
    • Project Safety,
    • Maintenance and care of equipment,
    • Means and methods of construction,
    • Quality of work.
  • Annually review hourly construction workers for performance and rate adjustments.
  • Identify extra work or change of conditions and report to Project Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Interface with salaried and hourly workers to communicate company issues, compliment exemplary work or effort and to address grievances as necessary.
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Construction Management,is preferredbut not required
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful and progressive experience as asuperintendentin heavy civilconstructionof all types of roadway construction.
  • Experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production of all phases of heavy civil construction
  • OSHA 10 certified
