The Grader Operator is responsible for safe and technically proficient operation of equipment assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Complete equipment condition reports, as well as a daily checklist of work to be done on your equipment and provide to the Project Superintendent daily through the Middlesex Application.
• Cleaning the machines regularly. This includes sweeping the cabs and removing trash daily, and lubricating doors and windows bi-weekly.
• Understand and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures. Know where all utilities within the work zone are located. Be responsible for your own safety as well as those working in the area.
• Inform your Superintendent or Foreman daily of your equipment fuel status so the fuel truck can be scheduled if needed for the next morning.
• Make a note on your equipment report and let your Superintendent know if you need any supplies, i.e.: grease, oil, rags, cleaning supplies, or if the machine needs to be steam cleaned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/ GED Certificate.
• 3-5 years Operator Experience in Heavy/Civil Construction.
• OSHA 10.
• Valid Driver License.

• Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and integrity oriented with strong professional work ethics.
• Preform take-off calculations for material; a) Limerock b) Sweetner c) Fill.
• Demonstrate/Discuss the installation of base material; a) Limerock, b) Soil Cement c) PUG.
• Ability to read survey stakes/ marks and relate to the prints.
• Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret plans and prints.
• Demonstrate the ability to install and use sonic and slope control.
• Discuss the difference between lever and joy stick control.
• Demonstrate adjustments of blade for; a) Roll b) Cross Slope c) Up \u0026 Down d) Angle.
• Discuss how to read material conditions.
• Demonstrate cutting for the following; a) Percent Cross Slope b) Crowns c) Multiple Lane Cross Slopes.
• Demonstrate road layout to do; a) Measure for breaks b) Pinching the String at Break c) Understanding of the difference between a prorated vs actual grade.
• Ability to read plans to determine depths and widths.
