WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intelligent Transportation System Specialist for our New York Hudson Valley region office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Oversee all network, communication systems, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for the HVTMC.
  • Supervise and monitor installation of workstations, servers and software applications setup as well as support for the ICM systems operations.
  • Coordinate with NYSDOT Staff in other groups including (Information Technology, Main Office, Traffic Signal Group, etc.).
  • Support the various HVTMC systems related to the ICM project such as, but not limited to ramp metering, queue jumping and communications service for adaptive traffic signal control system.
  • Determine the state of the ICM Corridor and report accurate corridor performance measures
  • Design and execute strategic response planning using the ICM system.
  • Oversee and execute a Data Quality Management program at the HVTMC for the ICM system.
  • Coordinate all technical aspects of Systems Integration and Management within the HVTMC
  • Witness ICM systems testing and acceptance testing and provide evaluation results and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with ICM Stakeholders, Information Technology and communications service personnel to support ICM Systems Operation and Maintenance.
  • Witness ICM configuration management and confirm Contractor’s configuration meets requirements and verify associated documentation.
  • Coordinate and assist the HVTMC System Administrator for ICM network configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting including firewall configurations.
  • Provide ICM database administration maintenance plans, backups, replication, performance monitoring etc.
  • Maintain the ICM asset inventory for ICM system components in the fields and at the HVTMC and other Transportation Management Centers. The inventory list shall contain asset information including all hardware specifications, serial numbers, third party support lifetimes, etc.
  • Provide systems related support for construction projects that are related to the ICM project.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for diagnosing intelligent transportation systems equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with others and coordinate ICM multi agency activities.
  • Apply the standards, principles, and practices of the Corporate Safety Manual, OSHA, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and the National Electrical Code.
  • Perform acceptance test procedures for new ITS system components.

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the following: <ul> <li>Electronics and electrical wiring theory, principles, and practices</li> <li>ICM system deployment</li> <li>TMC operation process</li> <li>Electrical and electronic standards and practices.</li> <li>Civil and Traffic standards and practices</li> <li>MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD</li> <li>ITS safety standards, policies, and procedures.</li> <li>NYSDOT Highway Design Manual (HDM)</li> <li>Mathematical computations</li> <li>Testing and detection instruments and devices.</li> <li>General hand, ITS communication and power tools.</li> <li>Various test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot communications equipment malfunctions.</li> <li>Repair of communications devices used to relay information to and from intelligent transportation systems equipment</li> </ul> </li> <li>Able to perform site visits and field inspections</li> <li>A working understanding of NYSDOT standard specifications</li> <li>ITS Asset Management System deployment and Operation</li> <li>Possess expertise in using a personal computer to operate ITS software applications</li> <li>Possess extensive ITS Design experiences including ITS plans, specifications and estimate development, post design support services and ITS technical inspection</li> <li>Must have excellent technical writing skills</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and analytical ability</li> <li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to details</li> <li>Ability interpreting the Corporate safety manual, OSHA, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and the National Electric Code</li> <li>Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record</li> </ul> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>CCNA valid Certification</li> <li>Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)</li> <li>Possess 7 years of experience in the field as an Electrical Technician</li> <li>BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil/Traffic Engineering with experience focused in ITS application work experience</li> <li>PE in the State of New York</li> </ul> <div><strong>About WSP USA </strong></div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms. Dedicated to serving local communities, we are engineers, planners, technical experts, strategic advisors and construction management professionals. WSP USA designs lasting solutions in the transportation, buildings, energy, water and environment sectors.
