As an Ironworker, your primary duties include marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
¢Setting up, flagging, and inspecting a crane
¢Inspecting rigging properly
¢Running a site level
¢Checking-in truck deliveries against bill of lading when load arrives
¢Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
¢Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
¢Shaking out rebar and distributing/organizing accordingly
¢Using pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
¢Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
¢Understanding building codes/requirements
¢Cutting excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
¢Installing mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together
¢Installing caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety
¢Installing rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
¢Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
¢Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
