WSP is currently initiating a search for a Intelligent Transportation Systems Construction Engineer for our Raleigh, NC office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities and ensure quality construction processes and procedures that includes but is not limited to fiber trunk line, CCTV, and DMS installation.
  • Manage construction inspection staff in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying and material sampling and testing.
  • Act as the client representative for communication with the project contractor.  Communicate with client and other stakeholders to report progress of work, construction issues, etc.
  • Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Seven years or greater of ITS construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment. 
  • Experience in reading and interpreting ITS construction plans.
  • Experience in contract administration ensuring projects are constructed in accordance with NCDOT standards and specifications.
  • Experience in the supervision, coordination and training of technicians and sub-consultants to achieve project goals.
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to work independently with occasional supervision from the Resident Engineer.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct   and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • P.E. license is preferred
