Job Title: Transmission Journeyman Lineman

Established electrical utility services provider with extensive experience and a sound safety record seeking experienced lineman for transmission line work in Miami-Dade area. Culture of safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA ET & D). Responsive, in-touch management and strong team dynamics.   • Minimum of five (4) years or more of verifiable work experience as a journeyman lineman with transmission lines (distribution lines a plus)
  • Experience in bucket crew working with high voltage energized electrical lines
  • Commercial Driver's License, Class A or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
  • Climbing skills
  • Completion of accredited apprenticeship program or comparable experience
  • Able to work in direct sunlight, inclement weather or at night
  • Physically able to perform all assigned tasks (see Responsibilities and Physical Demands)
  • Must pass background check; MVR driver background check; pre-employment and random drug screening


  • Construction/maintenance of transmission/distribution facilities in cost effective manner
  • Perform detailed inspections on transmission lines up to 230kV / distribution lines up to 46kV
  • Make needed repairs whenever possible to ensure a safe and reliable system
  • Ensure facilities remain reliable and efficient
  • Assist in emergency repair and power restoration after outages
  • Respond reliably and timely to calls during regular work hours and off regular work hours
  • Respond to after-hours work needs and assist with emergency repair of the transmission and/or distribution electric system
  • Account for all construction materials (issues, returns, salvage, etc.) properly
  • Perform duties safely and in accordance with company and OSHA accident prevention rules
  • Comply with applicable codes and standards
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees/customers at all levels within SEP
  • Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts
  • Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner

Physical Demands:

This position requires typical physical demands found in the construction industry, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Heavy lifting working on ladders, vehicle/equipment operation, electrical hand tool operation, digging, outside and inside work
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
  • Climb in/out of a bucket truck
  • Squeeze tools to 80 pounds of force
  • Climb poles; drive large vehicles and heavy equipment
  • Work from the basket of a bucket truck while wearing PPE
  • Work at night and for extended hours

Work Environment:

Mostly outside in inclement weather (extreme heat, thunderstorms, and occasional cool temperatures).

Special Requirements:

  • Considered essential during emergency and storm situations and must be able to work 16 hours/day for extended periods of time with travel away from home.
  • Must be available to serve on-call and are subject to having to work outside of their assigned shift/schedule to meet operational needs.

Job type: Full-time with OT

Salary Range: $40 - $44/hr (OT – standard hourly rate x 1.5)

Per Diem: $125.00 per workday
