The individual in this position is responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, equipment operators, and other construction site workers. May work in excess of a 40-hour work week. Must have access to reliable transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in building structures and around the construction site.
  • Cleans work areas and restocks supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Assists in rigging material and equipment to me moved or unloaded/loaded.
  • Mixes concrete or grout using a hoe or powered concrete mixer.
  • Assists in the placement of concrete for walls, slabs, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation.
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Performs demolition of concrete and equipment.
  • Directs trucks and traffic around the jobsite.
  • Installs handrail both temporary and permanent.
  • Strips formwork after the concrete is placed.
  • Cleans coolers and distribute water to work areas around the jobsite.
  • Works as a tool room attendant distributing tools or providing minor repairs.
  • Performs other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.

  • Maintains a positive safety attitude. Understanding that you are the person most responsible for protecting your health.
  • Works safely and follow the safety rules and regulations. Stop work immediately and ask for assistance if unsure or before you put yourself or a coworker at risk.
  • Must report any and all near misses or incidents immediately.
  • Plans safety into your work tasks.
  • Asks for training on means and methods and safety if needed.
  • Develops a working relationship with the project Safety Specialist.
  • Maintains neat, orderly work areas that protect other employees and the public.
  • Uses proper ergonomics while completing work tasks.
  • Ensures all tools are in proper working order and being used according to manufacturer’s recommendations and safety standards.


  • Works to achieve the production goals set by the foreman or leadmen each day.
  • Supports the project during concrete placements, demolition activities, etc.
  • Communicates needs to the leadman or foreman in a timely manner.


  • Ensures a “Zero Punch list” attitude is maintained. No rework should be required to occur.
  • Has a sense of pride in individual work and the work of the team. Remember, your work has your name on it.
  • Ensures that existing or previously installed work is protected from damage.
  • Ensures materials being installed are correct.
