WSP, a world-class multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Lead Consultant, Plumbing Engineer for our  Arlington, VA office.  We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. 
Lead Consultant - Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer -  Arlington, VA
WSP, an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm has an opening for a Lead Consultant, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer for our Arlington, VA office. WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance.
About the job:
Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile national and international projects. The Senior Engineer will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities and a favorable work environment.
  • Development of initial Plumbing and Fire Protection system concepts.
  • Design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
  • Calculation of preliminary utility loads for coordination.
  • Development of project specifications.
  • Survey and evaluation of existing conditions.
  • Performance of construction administration.
  • Attendance of client meetings.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems for the built environment. 
  • Strong working knowledge of building, plumbing and fire codes
  • Strong experience in high-rise commercial projects, including mixed use, residential and office complexes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in developing relationships with staff and clients.
  • Experience leading/mentoring junior staff.
  • Client focus, with a commitment to quality and problem-solving.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
