WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Highway Engineer for our Herndon, Virginia office with experience in the design of transportation projects (new/widened roadways, interchanges, sidewalks and trails, intersection improvements).
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Providing leadership and direction for a Civil/Highway Design project team
•Leading projects with all aspects of Transportation Design from conceptual and preliminary engineering through final design and procurement support
•Coordinating with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, traffic, and utilities
•Preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages
•Ensuring that production of plans, specifications, estimates, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
•Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing the work of staff-level engineers
•Providing training to staff-level engineers
•Directing client interaction, participating in project scoping and technical meetings
•Support business development initiatives

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <div class="O0">•7+ years of experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for transportation projects.</div> <div class="O0">•Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program</div> <div class="O0">•Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia</div> <div class="O0">•Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO and VDOT Design Guidelines and Standards</div> <div class="O0">•Proficiency in MicroStation and Geopak SS4/OpenRoads design software; familiarity with VDOT CADD/design software setup and standards</div> <div class="O0">•Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills</div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <div class="O0">•Experience with Alternative Delivery projects (design-build, P3, CM/GC) is highly desirable</div> <div class="O0">•Experience with developing three dimensional CADD models in MicroStation</div> <div class="O0">•Experience with Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Arlington County and/or Prince William County standards and projects</div> <div class="O0">•Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera or similar scheduling software</div> <div class="O0">•Affiliation and/or leadership positions with professional societies</div> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
