The Big Picture:

Mortenson is looking for a Lean Innovation Champion who will become a trusted resource and œin demand to support Groups and individual project teams in supporting and coaching them in continuously improving the way we work. Continued development and improvement of our continuous improvement approach ' how we learn and how we execute.

What you will be doing:

    *Personal Development and Growth as a Continuous Improvement Resource. Measure of success is personal growth and acquisition of new skills and capabilities, especially in leadership skills. (Commonly known as ˜soft skills').

    *Group Leadership Trust and Confidence. Seen as an in-demand business partner to VP/General Managers, VP/Director of Operations, and Field Operations Managers, to propose and deliver the right interactions with project teams to advance the culture of continuous improvement while positively impacting business outcomes. Measure of success is the ability to engage Group Leaders to be personally involved in continuous improvement activities.

    *Improvement Events. Work effectively with Mortenson construction project teams and manufacturing operations teams to hold ˜Improvement Events' and follow-through activities that result in tangible improvements in our culture of inclusion and continuous improvement, and in work processes, methods and outcomes. Measures of success are 1) Achieving targeted outcomes through these events and follow-up support; 2) engagement of key individuals in continuous improvement; 3) creating demand for more on-site time to support the project.

      *Develop Capability. This Lean Innovation Champion will be primarily responsible for achieving our five-year goal that every Field Leader (Field Operations Manager, Superintendent, General Foreperson, Foreperson) and field support resource (Safety, Quality, Lean, etc.) in our self-perform construction and manufacturing operations can confidently and effectively use the Kaizen continuous improvement approach”appropriately scaled to their situation”to reduce risk; make work safer, easier and better; improve the team member experience, and improve financial outcomes.

      Education and experience:

      *Must have: Demonstrated performance in influencing at the front-line level and two levels above (front-line supervisor, manager).
      *Must have: Experience in a manufacturing or similar environment with lean methods such as Improvement Events (Kaizen Events) and familiarity with continuous improvement principles.
      *Nice to have: Experience working in construction with construction craft team members.
