WSP is currently initiating a search for an on-call Maritime Cultural Resource Specialist for our Eastern or Gulf Coast offices.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Providing cultural resource compliance support for a wide range of private and public clients
  • Providing support for preparation of the cultural resources components of environmental permits, documents, and reports including writing, drafting, editing, and revising
  • Assisting with archaeological (terrestrial and underwater) aspects of environmental impact analysis, feasibility and due diligence studies
  • Applying knowledge of cultural resource management principles to research, data collection and compilation, and evaluation
  • Providing oversight services to clients for cultural resources subcontractors
  • Providing expertise on agency, tribal, and public outreach for cultural resources

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in underwater archaeology
  • Experience as the Principal Investigator including coordinating cultural resources field investigations with federal and state compliance and underwater cultural resource management projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • RPA certification
  • Experience coordinating projects involving Section 106 and NEPA and numerous consulting parties (ACHP, SHPO, and tribes)
  • Experience processing subsea geophysical data (e.g., side-scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler)
