The Port is currently recruiting for the position of Maritime Public Works/Rail Safety Specialist. Under direction, the Maritime Public Works/Rail Safety Specialist performs inspection and contract administration work on the Port of Oakland maritime public works contracts, ranging from routine to advanced and complex projects. The work involves contract administration duties, from preliminary engineering work on contracts, preconstruction meetings, inspection, through to signing off on a job and preparing final payments.
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: College coursework in any of the following: surveying, drafting, civil engineering and college mathematics through trigonometry.
Experience: Seven years of related experience, including at least two years of experience in construction inspection at the Senior Engineering Assistant level.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Licenses: Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license at the time of and for the duration of appointment.
Additional Requirements:This classification requires each incumbent to successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check, which will include a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and a Security Threat Assessment (STA), prior to being considered for this position. This status must be maintained for the duration of employment at the Port of Oakland.
