This position is with the WSP Maritime Division which has approximately 200 maritime team members who collaborate worldwide.  The US Maritime Division is part of the Transportation and Infrastructure Group and we work within multiple geographies at any given time.  The Maritime Division provides a full range of services to port and marine terminal operators, including, but not limited to, strategic planning, master planning, design, construction management, financial analysis and planning, environmental studies, permitting, operations planning, coastal engineering and facility maintenance/ management.
The Maritime Division offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, each being uniquely different. While the primary scope of work of this position will be concentrated in the northeast region which extends from Washington, DC to Canada and west as far as the Great Lakes, there may be opportunities to work on Maritime projects throughout the world.  If you are the type of individual who thrives on interesting and diverse learning experiences, this will be an excellent opportunity for you. 
Position Description
This candidate will, under supervision, perform routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.  The candidate must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.  It is expected that supervision will only be required in areas where precedents are not clearly established.  The responsibilities of this candidate will include the following:    
  • Assist more experienced engineers in broader engineering activities
  • Complete independent assignments, which call for an application of specialized professional expertise
  • Develop plans, specifications, schedule and cost estimates in accordance with client requirements  
  • Ensures that work product meets scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of younger engineers
  • Prepare drawings and perform calculations in support of broader engineer activities
  • Prepare technical studies and reports
  • Perform cost estimates for marine projects
  • Assist with inspection and design which requires work both in field and office settings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
