We work closely with architects and owners in the west coast region on medium to large, complex projects with a balanced focus on design, sustainability and energy performance. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. Your peers on your team are there to support you, teach you, and collaborate. WSP is currently initiating a search for an entry-level Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Properties and Buildings group in San Francisco, CA. Our mechanical team is a group of about ten engineers with varying levels of experience to learn and grow from. We like to have fun too!
This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards an Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree within an accredited program. The candidate will gain experience with design projects under direct supervision of the firm's leading professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners.
*Design of air distribution systems
*Design of hydronic systems
*Scheduling and selecting major equipment
*Automatic temperature controls system design and specification
*Cooling/heating load calculations
*Construction administration, including field/site visits.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Current standing as a Rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program
*Prior leadership experience, or relevant coursework demonstrating an interest in engineering in the built environment
*Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
*Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
*Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
*The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications:

*Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit, and producing technical drawings
*Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
*EIT License or LEED AP certification is a plus.
*Knowledge of Trane Trace or Carrier HAP is a plus.
*Previous building design internship experience is a plus.
