WSP is currently initiating a search for a Movable Bridge Mechanical Inspector for assignments on movable bridge projects throughout the NE District.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspect mechanical components for movable bridges at foundries, fabrication shops, and at construction sties.  This includes reviewing work to be in conformance with the plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Communicate with all project personnel including contractors, WSP and other inspection staff, the owner, material testers, surveyors, etc.
  • Create daily inspection reports that document all on site activities
  • Create computation sheets to support pay items
  • Attend and facilitate meetings
  • Project coordination with stakeholders
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Occasional evening and weekend work likely
  • Travel expected

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 11 years of relevant mechanical engineering and inspection experience
  • Construction inspection or design experience with movable bridge components ( lift, bascule swing)
  • Experience performing construction field inspection, coordinating resolution of requests for information, negotiating and preparing change orders, and coordinating submittal review
  • Experience representing owners in overseeing public infrastructure projects and communicating/coordinating with contractors
  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management Degree or equivalent
