Job Description Summary

As the National Planning and Architectural Manager (Build to Rent) working for Taylor Morrison you will oversee and manage the Build to Rent (BTR) national architectural plan development process, site plan layouts, and plan library maintenance seeking consistency across Build to Rent divisions nationwide. Build to Rent sites incorporate villa-style housing into a high-density apartment-style setting. You will work in close coordination with local division teams to site layouts that utilize consistent themes adopted by all Taylor Morrison BTR projects and incorporate municipal requirements and local preferences for both the site design and product elevations. You will lead coordination efforts with national third-party consultants related to local architectural and code requirements.

What Youll Do

We trust that as a National Planning and Architectural Manager (Build to Rent) you will: (responsibilities)

  • Coordinate with national consultants to provide deliverables on a timely basis
  • Review initial project site plans to verify compliance with national layout standards and design
  • Assist local divisions in maximizing rent revenues from site plan density and premium optimization
  • Coordinate with local division Planning and Land Development managers so they may process plan submittals in the local jurisdictions
  • Review jurisdictional site plan and product comments and coordinate with national consultants and local teams to address
  • Research, understand and communicate jurisdiction requirements for construction activities that impact project designs
  • Assist Purchasing in defining Contract and Contract negotiations
  • Create Plan Development Schedule from Kick-Off meeting through Plan Check approval and issuance of building permits
  • Coordinate Plan Development Kick Off meeting and subsequent follow up meetings
  • Coordinate communication and work product between architects, engineers and related consultants
  • Understand and assure compliance with local jurisdictional code requirements
  • Provide input on and recommend new plan designs and elevations that are appropriate for our BTR strategy
  • Ensures implementation of Taylor Morrison standard details and notes
  • Review new plans for consistency, accuracy and completeness of all Consultant plans and engineering with local building codes and the scope of the project
  • Participate and contribute to the value engineering process to improve the revenue-vs-cost equation
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of new plans released to construction
  • Maintain a product matrix by community (i.e., elevation styles, square footage, # rooms, # garages, stories, etc.)

You might be just who were looking for if you have

  • BS/BA in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Planning or other related fields and/or a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of organizational skills and capability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to Read and Utilize Working Drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications: (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • Office or non-manual work, which is directly related to management or general business operations
  • Act as a primary component of which involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

*Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.
