WSP is currently initiating a search for a Planning and Environment Manager for the Washington, DC region, located in our Washington, DC office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Growth and diversification of project portfolio – the successful candidate will bring a clear vision and plan to grow the portfolio of projects, while also expanding into new areas
  • Identification of opportunities and a prioritized and specific approach to deliver
    • Use your ability to grow and maintain a large professional network through professional organizations and the attendance of client commission and committee meetings
    • Network  and grow relationships at both a technical and policy level, considering both perspectives on behalf of our clients
    • Identify and include junior staff in meaningful roles in client meetings and business development
  • Business development and networking capabilities – the successful candidate has demonstrated his/her ability to grow and maintain a large professional network through professional organizations and the attendance of client commission and committee meetings. The candidate will be comfortable networking in and growing relationships at both a technical and policy level, and will have the ability to consider both perspectives on behalf of our clients.
  • Personnel growth and mentorship – the ability to iIdentify opportunities for junior staff to grow in project management, strategic and business planning, and business development
  • Be responsible for the financial health of the planning practice in the metropolitan DC area.

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>A minimum of fifteen years’ experience; advanced degrees may substitute for one or more year of experience  </li> <li>Knowledge of planning principles and practices with an emphasis on transportation projects</li> <li>Knowledge of principles and practice of research and data collection</li> <li>Proven business development track record and show a track record of successfully managing a pipeline of work for their staff</li> <li>Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of how to leverage existing skillsets and an ability to incorporate existing staff into the pursuit of new projects</li> <li>Project management expertise</li> <li>Provide a successful track record of staying within budget and schedule on projects they have managed.</li> <li>Ability to demonstrate a consistent track record of delivering work on-time, on-budget, and can show repeat business with a client – ideally in increasing amounts and/or responsibility</li> <li>Experience preparing planning studies, technical reports, for a wide variety of transportation and transit agencies</li> <li>Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail</li> <li>Ability to work well independently and in a group setting</li> <li>Experience working with WMATA, DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, MWCOG, FHWA, FTA and other local and regional private entities and public sector agencies</li> <li>Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular work hours if needed</li> <li>Member and active participant in industry organizations such as WTS, ULI and APA</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication skills</li> <li>Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook</li> </ul> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>Currently an Officer or Chair in Professional Organization</li> <li>Completion of Leadership or Advanced Management Training</li> <li>Advanced degree(s)</li> <li>Professional licensures and accreditations, such as: AICP, P.E., etc.</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div><strong>About WSP USA </strong></div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div>WSP USA (formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff) is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms—WSP. Dedicated to serving local communities, we are engineers, planners, technical experts, strategic advisors and construction management professionals. WSP USA designs lasting solutions in the transportation, buildings, energy, water and environment sectors.
