BLUvera Overview

BLUvera, Mortenson's vertically integrated self-perform manufacturing and prefabrication affiliate, utilizes advanced design, engineering, and 3D modeling to deliver and install prefabricated construction products on Mortenson projects. By utilizing DfMA principles (design for manufacturing and assembly), BLUvera leverages technology in the manufacture and fabrication of steel frame wall panels intended for load bearing and non-load bearing applications on our project sites. We continuously strive to enhance our offerings in prefabricated scopes of work that drive value for BLUvera and Mortenson as a whole.

The Big Picture:

BLUvera is looking for the ideal candidate to lead the construction products assembly and manufacturing production department.

The Production Manager is accountable for accomplishing all plant objectives in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, and cost through efficient and effective operations of the production group. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and will be the frontline day to day leader in the plant. Therefore, the successful candidate will have a combination of previous hands-on and leadership roles.

What will you be doing?

*Directs and leads production with an intense focus on safety and quality while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and internal company policies.
*Directs, manages and develops plant associates and supervisors to ensure efficient and safe operations of the plant. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
*Establishes, communicates, implements, and enforces safety programs and procedures; conducts routine safety inspections and meetings; ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment; identifies and implements safety improvements.
*Fosters and maintains a high level of customer service through supporting the plant with on-time deliveries, responsiveness to customer needs and ensuring that the quality of the shipped product meets all customer quality requirements.
*Manages and drives the continuous improvement of plant KPIs (Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Cost)
*Drives team morale through an understanding of team member needs, providing on-going training and development, providing rewards and recognition, and conducting team member coaching and counseling.
*Manages the production labor needs to support all production, shipping/receiving, and other plant activities.
*Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and production equipment.
*Reviews sales orders and develops the production plan from conception through completion. This includes minor engineering design work.
*Utilizes lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish plant goals.
*Provides hands-on process engineering support to the operation as necessary.
*Understands and communicates product specifications, blueprints, and job orders in an effective manner.
*Coordinates with others to ensure adequate stock levels of raw material and finished goods are available.
*Supports the Operations Manager in the development of safety and quality plans.

How will you succeed?

*Minimum three years of overall assembly/manufacturing experience in a leadership role, including responsibility for safety, quality, people development, and production.
*Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully lead a manufacturing department.
*Proven project management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
*Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement and change management activities.
*Exceptional ability to lead, manage, and coach team members.
*Keen business acumen and attention to detail with a solid record of leading change and delivering superior safety, quality, and production results.
*Experience with construction design is a plus.
*Experience with ERP (Oracle) software preferred.


*Bachelor's degree in engineering; Significant (15+ years) industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
