WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Development Manager for our Los Angeles, California office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and coordinates the execution of pre-construction activities associated with the preparation for the building of new schools and modernization projects
  • Responsible for the scope, schedule and budgets for new and modernization school projects
  • Resolves complex planning, design and construction project related issues
  • Oversees the performance of Assistant Facility Development Managers, Design Managers and Design professionals
  • Coordinates with representatives from various utility and government agencies to obtain timely action on successive phases of project completion
  • Assists project team with A/E contracts, bid and contract planning
  • Reviews and verifies Design Professional contract scope, fees and application for payment and performs overall fiscal management of multiple projects
  • Coordinates project activities, requirements and schedules with other branches within the organization
  • Develops and recommends internal policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum o f 10 years of experience managing the planning , design, construction and coordination of capital projects with 5 years experience in educational facility construction or public works projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • California Certificate of Registration as an Architect OR Professional Engineer
  • Construction Manager Credentials CCM
  • LEED Professional Accreditation
Experience with:
  • scoping and planning of new construction and/or modernization projects
  • the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
  • LEED and/or Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS) projects.
  • the development of major facilities (CEQA, agency approvals, coordination with City and County agencies).
  • both project delivery and procurement methods for public projects
  • community engagement processes and strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Formal Construction Partnering
