POSITION SUMMARY
A Project Engineer will work under general supervision of the Project Management Team (PM’s/ SPM’s) through whom work assignments are made in terms of objectives to be accomplished and delegated responsibilities and authorities regarding scope of work, schedule, budget, utilization of resources, and reporting.

The Project Engineer will have broad experience and a thorough understanding of heavy civil construction with a strong knowledge in Agtek and Bid to Win program processes for large scale construction projects. Must be able to meet critical deadlines and work as part of a team.

Employee’s Duties will include but not to be limited to:

RESPONSIBLITIES & GENERAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in project management of construction projects. This includes but is not limited to:
  1. Develop and maintain project schedules with input from team members
  2. Development of budget estimate, including budget estimate updates
  3. Development of bidding phase Scope of Work documents
  4. Tracking of shop drawing submittal and review
  5. Management of Requests For Information (RFI) and responses
  6. Creation and distribution of meeting notes
  7. Review and execution of Subcontractor Change Order Requests
  • Work with clients to establish general construction design criteria for engineering design firms and design/build contractors.
  • Effectively review and coordinate engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to unexpected demands due to changes in project scope or deadline.
  • Use strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to effectively handle deadline pressures without creating workflow problems for others.
  • Maintain quality subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  • Work on multiple projects in a given time period, depending upon project size and deadline.
  • Work with internal and external sources to ensure projects are completed according to plans
  • Provide overall support to construction and development efforts
  • Establish working relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to facilitate construction activities
  • Prepare and execute schedules milestones and production goals to ensure schedules and budgets are met.
  • Assist in preparing contracts for subcontractors and purchase orders for vendors.
  • Ensure subcontractor execution of the contract.
  • Handle subcontractor invoices.
  • Develop project billing.
  • Monitor contract performance to ensure scope, schedule, budget, and customer expectations are maintained or exceeded. 
  • Coordinate project start-up and close-out activities.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Make periodic field visits (out of project office) to assure the scope, schedule and quality of the project are achieved.
  • Coordinate equipment utilization.
  • Assist in developing scopes, cost proposals, and schedule for all change orders and modifications to the contract.
  • Monitor, review and correct daily reports.
  • Track quantities and maintain data logs.

COMMUNICATIONS AND COORDINATION

  • Complete timely and accurate reports on projects in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Ensure effective communications within the Brad Cole Construction Team, clients, engineers, etc. 
  • Facilitate resolution of any problems and conflicts both within the Brad Cole Construction Team and with customers.
  • Communicate with customer on project’s progress to ensure all customer goals are met.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Additional duties and assignments, as deemed necessary by Brad Cole or Executive Management.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

  • This position requires working in an internal (office) and external (field) environment.
  • Communication typically occurs through face-to-face interaction, as well as via e-mail, telephone and written correspondence. This job also requires the ability to use other office equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Occasionally travel to meetings throughout the office and at other company office sites and client locations.
  • Constantly work in a team environment, effectively and efficiently  achieving goals, improving processes and resolving problems.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of Construction Management experience is required
  • Action oriented
  • Positive attitude
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Timberline, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Bid to Win, Primavera P6, AutoCAD 3D, Agtek or similar
  • Takeoff Software estimating software a plus
  • Communication, verbal and written.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires considerable concentration and focus. It is subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and workload. 
  • Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort.
  • Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
  • Normal complexity of decision making.
