JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for assisting the Sector Manager in project delivery. This includes daily reporting of work performance, tracking budgets and project costs. This position will also assist in project planning, development of cost estimates..

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly project control reports, as well as operational reports concerning cost, schedule, progress, budget, forecast, manpower, and quantities.
  • Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, and documentation
    • Prepares comparisons and evaluations associated with project estimates, forecasts, cost trends and schedules pertaining to budgets, productivity, manpower loadings and other operational data parameters.
    • Tracking project budgets and costs, establishing product costs, and analyzing changes in company costs.
    • Conducts meetings, draft reports or reviews work of others as related to project cost management.
    • Supporting administration of the project teams and the coordination of activities between project locations; ensuring that all decisions and activities within the various project teams support the project's objectives and priorities.
    • Assisting in organizing and controlling project work to ensure that all project objectives are being met with regard to safety, environment, cost, schedule, work environment, and quality.
    • Preparing and giving presentations on projects.
    • Assisting project controls in the preparation of cost estimates.
    • Obtaining all necessary approvals for planned work.
    • Keeping team members informed on progress and developments.
    • Monitoring project document development and change orders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in the construction-related field desired. Will consider 5+ years of experience in lieu of college degree. Basic knowledge of general construction industry contracting practices a plus.
  • Must be able to pass Border Patrol Criminal Background Investigations and Clearances.  
  • Past experience of managing Government contracts preferred. This includes U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection / Department of Homeland Security.
  • General overall knowledge of multiple construction disciplines, such as site grading, roads and bridges, electrical lighting, as wells, fences and gates.

 

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excell, PowerPoint, Word), along with Google Earth
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical construction documents. procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Expected work hours will vary by job, location, and needs.
  • May be required to travel to various locations as required.
