Role:

  • Responsible for performing ALARA evaluations of the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) design, process and operations, to ensure compliance with DOE requirements.
  • Develops personnel exposure models from computational analyses incorporating dose rate projections and time-motion applications.
  • Develops, prepares, reviews and/or issues technical reports and computational analyses.
  • Stays abreast of current DOE regulatory requirements and applies to work processes.
  • Provides radiological engineering/health physics technical support to the SWPF Project Environmental, Nuclear Safety, Engineering and Operations Groups as required.


Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in applied radiological engineering with an emphasis on ALARA functions pertinent to operations of a nuclear facility.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with customers and all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, meeting schedules and deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOE regulations related to radiological safety (10CFR835 and DOE Orders).
  • Demonstrated skills in researching and preparing technical reports.
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.



Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Health Physics, Radiological Engineering, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum Experience Requirement(s)
  • Job Related Experience: Five or more years of related experience with a minimum of one year of experience in applied health physics or radiological engineering at a DOE nuclear or radiological facility.
  • Nuclear Experience: One year of experience in applied health physics or radiological engineering at a nuclear or radiological facility.
  • Licenses, Certifications, and Specialized Training Requirements
  • Licenses: N/A
  • Certifications: Certified Health Physicist (CHP) or Registered Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) is preferred.


Requires a thorough knowledge of Federal and state health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.
