Our Newark, NJ office is seeking a Rail Track Engineering Intern to support the Transit & Rail Track Group for the summer of 2020. This candidate should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and will be responsible for assisting technical staff in day-to-day project duties. The major projects involving intern support include track alignment and structure design for projects across the US but with a focus on the Greater New York City Region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work on some of the most challenging transit and rail projects in the country
  • Work under and assist more experienced track engineers in broader transportation planning and design activities
  • Design  horizontal and vertical track alignments and special trackwork details using AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and InRoads
  • Write technical specifications and perform calculations
  • Review submittals, shop drawings and requests for information for projects during construction
  • Duties may include field inspections on railroad properties

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Must possess an interest in transit and rail related projects and systems</li> <li>Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering, mechnical engineering, or railroad engineering from an accredited program</li> <li>Proficiency with MS Office software</li> <li>Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills</li> <li>Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products</li> <li>The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>Experience in the transit or rail industry</li> <li>Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework</li> <li>Proficiency with CADD software, AutoCAD, MicrosStation, and InRoads</li> <li>Local candidates preferred.
