WSP is currently initiating a search for a Rail Vehicle Engineer for our Atlanta, GA office.  This position reports to the Manager Rail Vehicles - East, within WSP’s Transit & Rail Technical Excellence Center.  The selected individual will be responsible for providing Full Time engineering and technical expertise for FFD’s rail vehicle practice. The selected candidate will be supporting WSP’s clients engaged in the procurement, maintenance and operation of rail fleets employing all modes of rail technologies. Experience in rail vehicles and associated specifications, standards, and recommended practices would be a plus. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support WSP’s engineering staff in preparing design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for rail vehicle mechanical and  electrical systems
  • Review of contractor design, construction and testing documents
  • Assist in the development of capital cost estimates for electrical and mechanical vehicle systems
  • Provide field inspection, system testing, and other support during construction activities
  • Technical responsibility for the preparation of technical reports in accordance with client's requests
  • Investigation of rolling stock and related systems issues as requested by the client
  • Perform billable work and other tasks as assigned and best fits training and ability

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Industrial)</li> <li>One year of relevant engineering experience through internships, masters degree or equivalent working knowledge/experience</li> <li>Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a logical and orderly manner</li> <li>Good communication and superior writing skills</li> <li>The ability to work in a disciplined manner with little supervision</li> <li>Ability to work variable shifts to support client operations; inspection, testing, etc.</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>Advanced degree(s) preferred</li> <li>Knowledge of systems used on rail vehicles including: propulsion, car body structural design, brakes, couplers, doors, mechanical systems controls, HVAC.  Specific significant expertise in one of these systems is a plus.</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
