WSP is currently initiating a search for a Train Control Testing Engineer for our Baltimore, MD office.  This position reports to the Manager Rail Vehicles - East, within WSP’s Transit & Rail Technical Excellence Center.  The selected individual will be responsible for providing Full Time engineering and technical expertise for FFD’s rail vehicle practice. The selected candidate will be supporting WSP’s clients engaged in the procurement, maintenance and operation of signaling systems and  rail fleets employing microprocessor technologies. Prior testing experience with any sophisticated system (e.g. aircraft, maritime, or equivalent) is required. Experience with rail vehicles and or signaling systems would be a plus. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Support WSP’s engineering staff in commissioning Maryland MTA's microprocessor based Train Control equipment
  • Assist with and witness field testing of complex schemes including CBTC Train Control and rail vehicle solutions to ensure installation is in accordance with the design parameters
  • Review of contractor design, construction and testing documents including testing procedures
  • Assist in the development of capital cost estimates for electrical and mechanical vehicle systems
  • Technical responsibility for the preparation of technical reports and associated documentation in accordance with client's requests
  • Liaise with, design, construction, planning and commercial teams that support the project
  • Perform billable work and other tasks as assigned and best fits training and ability
