Job Description Summary

As a Regional Controller - Build To Rent, working for Taylor Morrison you will be responsible for working alongside Senior Management to lead your regions finance function, establish and maintain accounting policies across the region and have overall responsibility for your regions financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and more.

We trust that as a Regional Controller - Build To Rent you will: (responsibilities)

  • Support Senior Management in providing financial management expertise to each operating division in your region as well as to the corporate finance organization
  • Ensure that accounting, control, audit and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure that financial information is accurately developed, analyzed and reported to management
  • Ensure forecasts, project budgets and division budgets are prepared timely and accurately
  • Support Contract and Closing processes including responsibility for contract review of all land purchases and asset sales.
  • Ensure that corporate financial policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure that all corporate and operational reports are submitted accurately and timely
  • Assist in the management of information system issues and concerns
  • Provide financial assistance to all functional areas as needed
  • Responsible for accuracy of financial reports for assigned entities and subsidiaries
  • Technical accounting and disclosure research for potential and actual significant and non-routine transactions
  • Manage accounting for debt, interest, bonus accruals, leases, and other regional accounting areas
  • You are willing to perform other duties as assigned

About you:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA, active CPA candidacy acceptable (preferred)
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, or relevant experience
  • Seven years or more of experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, land development and/or construction industry
  • Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
  • Knowledge of cost accounting (specifically construction industry)
  • Prior experience managing and training accounting/finance personnel
  • Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees;
  • Setting rates of pay and hours of work;
  • Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees;
  • Determining work techniques;
  • Planning the work;
  • Apportioning work among employees;
  • Determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed;
  • Planning budgets for work;
  • Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance;
  • Providing for safety and security in the workplace

  • Report to BTR Senior Management/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Ability to have face to face conversations with customers, co-workers and higher level manager
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Comply with company policies and procedure

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

*Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.
