Ready to take your engineering experience to the next level to work on complex Rail Systems construction projects. We've worked for almost every heavy rail transit authority in North America, and we currently hold contracts with WMATA, NYCT, PANYNJ, CTA, TTC, BART, SFMTA, MARTA, NJT, DART, MDTPW, and LACMTA. We have completed or are currently working on 23 major railroad and transit design-build projects over the last 20 years.

We are looking Resident Engineers to support rail facility, systems installations and rail and transit structures. The rail systems include signal, track, power, and communications. The facilities include passenger stations, train storage yards, train maintenance facilities as well as other transit and rail facilities. The structures include elevated train structures, tunnels and passenger platforms.

In this role, you will lead the activities of the office engineers, construction inspectors, and administrative/project personnel. Duties include managing contractor's work for compliance to schedule, budget, technical specifications, legal and code requirements on a major transit projects in the New York metropolitan area. This position requires an effective team leader who can mentor project team members and foster a working environment where a culturally and diverse project staff can work cooperatively to deliver the project on-time and on-budget. The resident engineer will not only support the PM and CM but will effectively interface with the contractors.

The position is located in the New York Area and will require significant time working in the field, with possible nighttime and/or weekend work

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development of the construction contract packages, and prepare all packages for bidding, proposal evaluation and award recommendations

  • Coordinate the work with all contractors, and be responsible for ensuring all project deliverables are in conformance with the technical specifications of the contract

  • Resolve design and field construction problems, attend progress meetings and reports on project status. Expedite design and field changes. Review contractor requests for change, and when appropriate, assist in the preparation of contract change orders/modifications.

  • Communicate to the contractor construction techniques and changes where necessary to enhance job safety

  • Review contractor as-builts for compliance with contract documents

  • Chair weekly construction progress meetings, readiness review meetings, third-party coordination meetings, design coordination meetings and other construction meetings. Prepare meeting minutes

  • Manage and review design and construction submittals, RFI's, and claim reviews and responses

  • Prepare Project Management Plans

  • Monitor and report on construction progress.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality programs

  • Provide technical scope and justification for contract changes, and complete other tasks as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management or engineering or related field

  • PE and/or CCM certification is desirable

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in civil construction with five (5) years in construction of transit projects in the areas of stations, utility relocations & demolition, or track & systems and transit and rail facilities

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction manager on projects valued over $25 million dollars

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

  • Must be able to successfully complete Roadway Worker Protection class

  • Must have knowledge of working in a government environment

  • Must be able to pass a government background check

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Construction safety training including OSHA10/30

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
