BASIC FUNCTION
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating with the project management team to develop and maintain cost loaded schedules for each project under contract. Scheduler will be responsible for updating schedules on a weekly basis and meeting (in person or via phone) with each project team to discuss upcoming deadlines and planned work. Scheduler shall also be responsible for working with the Pre- Construction department in preparing initial project schedules for specific estimates prior to bid submission.
RESPONSIBILITIES & GENERAL JOB DUTIES
- Develop/maintain cost loaded, and resource loaded, schedules, in Primavera P6 for all projects
- Responsible to update schedules weekly
- Meet with project managers/production team on a weekly basis to develop 2-week look ahead
- Work with pre-construction in preparing schedules for major bids prior to bid due dates
- Develop, establish, and maintain all phases of the planning & scheduling effort for all projects
- Produce planning & scheduling deliverables including preparation of schedules, tracking of actual
work against schedules, performing variance analysis studies, updating of weekly schedule
- Complete, forecasting, and reporting this information to Project Management Team
- Performance of project control duties will be conducted utilizing latest Primavera scheduling
software
- Any milestone dates that are anticipated to be missed according to the schedule or impacts to the
critical path must be communicated to the Project Management Team and Director of Construction.
COMMUNICATIONS AND COORDINATION
- Complete timely and accurate reports on projects in accordance with corporate policies.
- Ensure effective communications within the project executive manager, clients, engineers, etc.
- Facilitate resolution of any problems and conflicts both within the Project Team and with
customers.
- Communicate with customer on project’s progress to ensure all customer goals are met.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Additional duties and assignments, as deemed necessary by Senior Project Manager and Executive Management.
- Work closely with Business Development to perform the following: a. Manage, maintain and retain current clients.
b. Identify potential clients or business opportunities.
c. Find and evaluate potential projects.
• Work closely with Preconstruction Department to perform the following: a. Assist in making go/no-go decisions to pursue projects.
b. Develop estimates and pricing for potential projects.
c. Buyout of subcontractors and vendors.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- This position requires working in the internal and external environment.
- The duties of this position are typically performed in an office setting with normal ranges of temperature and a moderate to high level of office background noise. The majority of duties are
performed while sitting at a desk.
- Communication typically occurs through face-to-face interaction, as well as via e-mail, telephone
and written correspondence. This job also requires the ability to use other office equipment such
as copier, fax machine, etc.
- Weekly travel to meetings at project sites other company office sites or client locations.
- Constantly work in a team environment, effectively and efficiently achieving goals, improving
processes and resolving problems.
- This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years of experience as Scheduler with experience on heavy civil projects required
- Experience with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects a plus
- Ability to read drawings and specifications required
- Extensive computer experience (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook). 5 + years planning & scheduling
experience in engineering and construction management using Primavera software
- Excellent Communication (oral and writing) skills.
- Good “working-knowledge” of building and civil construction planning

- Ability to multitask in various areas and be able to communicate well.
- Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of different computer programs or at least the ability to learn new software.
- Communication, verbal and written.
