Job Description:

Are you interested in joining a team of experienced geophysicists working with cutting-edge technology, developing innovative approaches, and leading the industry in geophysical detection and classification on Military Munitions Response Projects? Parsons is now hiring a Scientist (Geophysicist) for our rapidly expanding geophysics team.

Under direction of a project geophysicist, site geophysicist, and project manager, a geophysicist performs a variety of data collection tasks using geophysical and GPS equipment. Those tasks include conducting quality control tests and collecting digital geophysical data to support remedial investigation or removal action projects at formerly used defense sites with potential unexploded ordnance contamination. Between field assignments the Geophysicist supports the project teams by assisting with proposal preparation, work plan preparation, report writing, and data analysis. The field geophysicist will work up to leading the field component of the geophysical investigation as a site geophysicist and performing data processing and interpretation. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of geophysical data acquisition, processing and analysis and assist the project team in the remedial investigation or removal action. The main focus of this role is working on sites with unexploded ordinance but may also include some soil and water remediation tasks. Extensive travel around the USA to various field sites. 60-70% travel.

*Acquiring EM61-MK2, G-858, MetalMapper 2x2, MPV and UltraTEM data
*Tracking QC information in an Access-format data base
*Performing field and office tasks requiring the application of basic geophysical principles and theories
*Writing geophysics sections of work plans and reports for CERCLA and RCRA remediation projects

*Performing anomaly reacquisition using EM61-MK2, G-858, and Real Time Kinematic GPS sensors
*Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods and documenting test results
* Processing EM61-MK2, G-858, MetalMapper2x2, and MPV data using Geosoft's Oasis Montaj software, and processing UltraTEM data using BT Field software
*Interpreting geophysical data

Bachelor's degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline
3+ years of related work experience
Working knowledge of software packages typically associated with the discipline is required
A familiarity with environmental rules and regulations is preferred

The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $54,000.00.
