WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Engineer for our New York City, New York office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform roadway and highway design including horizontal and vertical alignments.
  • Assist in creating roadway surfaces and roadside transitions.
  • Develop cross-sections and profiles for final design.
  • Produce construction documents and specifications for roadway work on various types of projects.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines on a variety of small and large projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of feasibility studies, design reports and construction cost estimates.
  • Train and lead junior engineers.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Work both independently and as a team with other engineers on project tasks.
  • Think critically and solve problems.
  • Attend professional engineering society functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience with the design and preparation of construction contract documents for roadway and highway type projects.
  • Candidate must have Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Candidate must have a NYS Professional Engineering License or have the ability to obtain within one year of hiring.
  • Candidate must be proficient in designing with AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation InRoads.
  • Familiar with the following guidelines/standards: AASHTO Highway Design Guide, NYSDOT Highway Design Manual, MUTCD, NYCDOT standards.
  • Experience working on projects with the following agencies: NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA B&T, PANYNJ and local municipalities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursues advanced professional development and training to enhance knowledge in discipline
  • Ability to comprehend and advise others to create operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings Proactively identifies technical issues and takes actions to mitigate risk
