As a VDOT Engineering Supervisor for Locally Administered Projects, you will:

• Manage the Districtâs locally administered projects and programs for project delivery to ensure locality performance meets the state, federal, and other government agency requirements.
• Collaborate with and provide guidance to localities to assist with delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Project Management â Independently perform and oversee contract construction activities for locally administered projects. Report project progress to Project Sponsor and key stakeholders; identify delays or problems and recommend solutions; perform QC, maintain current schedules and estimates, and adjust as needed. Review and provide oversight of change orders, contract modifications and plan modifications.
• Review project reimbursement vouchers from localities prior to submission for payment.
• Respond to technical project inquiries from public, local government, stakeholders and other special interest groups; establish communications and close working relations with project team members.
• Oversee and coordinate development of locally administered projects, work with localities and VDOT staff ensuring projects proceed in a timely manner. Review and scope annual applications and participate in statewide level policy and program management discussions.
• Serve as supervisor for the Richmond District Locally Administered Construction Team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Driver's license
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
• Skill in supervising, coaching, counseling and training others to include planning and scheduling work.
• Skill in building networks and relationships with others, employees, field personnel, contractors, manufacturing and FHWA representatives.
• Valid Professional Engineer's license
• Experience applying roadway safety standards and special designs to roadway projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
• Experience applying roadway design criteria, hydraulics and construction methods, standards, specifications and materials.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with contracts involving FHWA representatives.
• Experience supervising small work groups
• Knowledge of Virginia's Enhancement Program guidelines to include federal and state funding, environmental, and civil rights requirements for locally administered projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
