Job Description
The Field Engineer assists and acts as a liaison between contractors, superintendents, foremen, estimators, and engineers for a specific project until the completion of the project. Responsible for ensuring that site operations within the areas of its competence are performed in compliance with approved working procedures and quality requirements. Provides technical support and assistance to the Site Superintendent in coordinating routine and special activities and acts as a link between the field and the techincal office.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
Activites associated with project start-up, execution, and close out
Participate in the preparation of the project construction schedule and work plans
Update daily reports and perform quanitity takeoffs
Ensure compliance in areas such as erosion, environmental permits, specifications, and design requirements
Ensure those in the field have the most current information and coordinate assistance
Coordinate with third party utility providers to ensure all utilities are identified and located prior to work
Coordinate procurement, delivery of materials and onsite storage
Prepare QA/QC material certifications for submittalas required
Prepare cost and time estimates for personnel, equipment, material needs, and pay estimates for minor subcontractors to help in arriving at tentative project budgets
Resolve onsite conflicts between design plans and onsite conditions, clarify contract documents as potential complications arise, ability to investigate conflicts as needed
Interpret and prepare aids including scope sheets, plans layout, etc.
Accurately identify and consistantly incorporate key design requirements in product and process development
Review and code timesheets
Review pay subcontractor, pay estimates prior to management's approval
Draft RFIs as questions/discrepancies arise
Make decisons and select appropriate solutions after reviewing all available data
Carry out job duties and Lane Values

Qualifications:
BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in heavy/highway construction
Familiar with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes
Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word
