Senior Lead Consultant, Mechanical Engineer

WSP USA’s Mechanical Engineers in our Property & Buildings group work on high quality local, regional, as well as high profile national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close out.  We work in close collaboration with the entire project team, ensuring optimal integration of all systems.
Responsibilities Include:
As a Senior Lead Consultant, Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical aspects of project. 
  • Produce high quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals
  • Apply deep knowledge of engineering techniques across multiple technical functions.
  • Exemplify well developed advanced experience in mechanical discipline
  • Lead the development of initial mechanical system concepts
  • Present complex technical solutions to clients
  • Manage and coordinate project teams and projects
  • Develop work plans to address technical issues within project time and budget
  • Review cooling and heating load calculations
  • Survey and evaluate existing conditions
  • Develop project specifications
  • Utilize advanced analytical and design techniques to solve technical problems
  • Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and safety code requirements
  • Perform tasks related to construction administration
  • Approve and sign off on work
  • Attend and participate or lead team and or project meetings
  • Manage and or mentor junior staff
  • Coordinate and manage tasks within larger projects
  • Propose creative solutions to complex problems as part of team
  • Develop client relationships
  • Contribute and interact with team, develops and manages high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals.
  • Participate in local professional organization (attend meetings/lectures), ie, poster sessions, participate in conference panel
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required by business needs


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience mentoring and training others in field.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical systems design in the built environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact well with others as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and codes
  • Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter  
  • Highly skilled in ability to use Revit
  • Participate in conference programs including panels, lectures, poster sessions, papers and presentations.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Innovative design experience related to renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings
  • Post graduate education (Graduate level courses, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D.)
  • LEED AP Certification

Compensation and Benefits:
WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
Expected salary: $99,900- $203,900
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
