WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support our San Francisco, California office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead design efforts in the preparation of project calculations, drawings and specifications for mechanical and life safety systems including, transit stations and facilities, commercial buildings, road and rail tunnel fire life safety systems, emergency ventilation systems, HVAC systems, piping and hydraulic systems, drainage systems, pumping systems, and fire protection systems
  • Research on topics related to aspects of the design of critical transit and infrastructure mechanical systems such as, emergency ventilation, fire protection, movement of heat andsmoke, energy efficiency, systems controls etc.
  • Assist in the development of costs estimates for transit and infrastructure mechanical systems
  • Lead and organize design processes for implementation of advanced 3D/MEP CAD methods
  • Provide field inspection and equipment testing expertise including equipment vibration, noise measurement, HVAC systems balance, piping system performance, commissioning support.
  • Provide general technical support during construction activities including field inspection, close coordination with construction management teams, client interface, problem resolution, submittal review.
  • Support business development activity including client interface, proposal preparation, industry research, team building.

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited program</li> <li>Five (5) years designing mechanical systems with emphasis one or more of HVAC, Fire Protection, Emergency Ventilation, Fire Life Safety.</li> <li>Detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering design and construction principles, methods, and standards related to the facilities development.</li> <li>Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within ateam environment.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with relatively little oversight and take leadership responsibility.</li> <li>California PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months</li> </ul> <div>Preferred Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Experience in design and construction support for infrastructure mechanical systems</li> <li>Proven experience in project leadership roles such as, leading design efforts, client outreach, proposal development, etc.</li> <li>Good written and oral communication skills</li> <li>Record of participation in industry groups such as NFPA, ASHRAE, SFPE, AMCA, ASPE, APTA etc.</li> </ul> <div><strong>About WSP USA</strong></div> <div><strong><br /></strong></div> <div>WSP USA (formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff) is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms—WSP.
