The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for developing relationships with suppliers, purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and services and managing Buyers and Purchasing Agents. EXPECTATIONS OF ALL TEAM MEMBERS

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

    *Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers
    *Work with manager to develop profitable purchasing strategies
    *Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
    *Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
    *Create and maintain catalogs for each operating group that is supported.
    *Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
    *Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action
    *Analyze individual markets, manages budget and increases margin on a regular basis, track trends in purchasing habits
    *Evaluate suppliers
    *Train project teams to effectively utilize procurement system
    *Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
    *Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
    *Enter purchase orders, retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
    *Visit project site or operating group quarterly at a minimum to better understand their challenges and educate them on procurement so that streamlined processes can be implemented
    *Manage Buyer(s) and/or Purchasing Agent(s)
    *Lead special projects for team as requested
    *Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
    *Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

      *Knowledge of Construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
      *Proven experience in a purchasing function
      *Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
      *Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
      *Ability to travel up to 30%

        *Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
        *Minimum of 4 years of experience in purchasing field
        *Current driver's license
        *Software experience ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

        This position requires the following with or without an accommodation; sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a jobsite multiple times daily. The working environments consist of exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather; as well as indoor and climate-controlled settings.
