COMPANY NAME: The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California JOB TITLE: Senior Resource Specialist (Power) COMPANY DESCRIPTION: DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position is that of subject matter expert for power operations and scheduling, power sales, and procurement activities related to Metropolitan’s retail loads, hydroelectric power plants, federal hydro entitlements, and CRA pumping operations. In this role, you will use your broad based experience with power and transmission contract management and administration, power markets and market operations, power settlements, energy risk management practices, renewable and emission credit markets, and retail energy service options. You will utilize your in depth knowledge and experience with the CAISO market place (or other Independent System Operator experience), business practices, and tariff structure. You will also provide strategic recommendations for CAISO and non-CAISO bidding and scheduling processes, and evaluation and tracking of CAISO and third party power settlements. Your experience with energy market analysis methods utilizing statistical or market simulation models, and historical and forward market prices will also be emphasized when implementing risk management policies and procedures. In addition, your knowledge and experience with energy and capacity contracts and contract valuation methods, will support negotiations of key contract terms and conditions. You will also coordinate with WECC and California regulatory agencies such as the CEC, CAISO, CARB and CPUC and understand their stakeholder procedures and policies.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in Business Administration, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Geology, Geography, Hydrology, or other directly related field, and 8 years of progressively responsible experience in policy development, project management, resource negotiations, and development and implementation of solutions to complex problems related to water resources, 1 year of which must have been at a supervisory level for supervisory positions.


Relevant Experience is defined as: Experience with day to day company load requirements and power assets, contract administration, risk management, integrated resource planning, settlement experience, business analytics, experience working with regulatory agencies (CAISO, CARB, WECC, CPUC, CEC), and strategy assessment; experience organizing, formatting and calculating data with formulas using a spreadsheet system.

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
