Job Description Summary

As a Senior SEC Reporting Accountant working for Taylor Morrison you will provide core accounting and reporting support to the Finance Operations Team. To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to manage multiple and often simultaneous deadlines/projects, have strong analytical skills, drive departmental process improvements, be detail oriented and display a high level of organizational skills. In addition, were looking for an excellent problem solver; capable of applying a logical set of steps often with incomplete information, to solve complex business problems.

The ideal candidate will be located near Scottsdale, Arizona and have flexibility to go into the corporate office as needed. However, we are open to out of state remote candidates as well.

Job Details

We trust that as a Senior SEC Reporting Accountant you will: (responsibilities)

  • Prepare financial information for accuracy, compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and proper presentation and disclosure
  • Assist in preparation of Form 10Q's and 10K and various internal reports and presentations
  • Perform technical accounting analysis for recurring and ad-hoc transactions using relevant accounting guidance to ensure proper accounting and reporting of transactions
  • Perform research and provide financial analysis to management and other users of financial information
  • Perform ad-hoc projects interacting with various team members

In addition, you may assist our general ledger team with the following:

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including reconciliations, coordination, and reviewing of financial reports/support as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and resolve accounting related issues
  • Perform monthly account analysis and roll-forwards of selected general ledger accounts to ensure accounts properly reflect the Companys financial position in accordance with company policy
  • Review ledger detail, record adjusting journal entries, and prepare supporting schedules for financial statements
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries as needed
  • Train and supervise accounting staff, demonstrate leadership skills, and assist in coordination of the staffing model
  • Focus on continuous improvement of established processes, controls, and documentation
  • You are willing to perform other duties as assigned

About you:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of general accounting or SEC reporting experience required
  • Public company experience required
  • Real estate knowledge a plus
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • Experience with technical accounting and SEC reporting preferred

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
