WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Structural Engineer for the Transportation Facilities Group in the New York office.
With the familiarity of a small group of staff, along with the support of a large firm, this is an excellent and unique opportunity for the right candidate to challenge themselves and to grow their career.
TFG leads and design projects that supports local and regional growth initiatives through small and large transportation projects.  Our goal is to team with our agency clients and to develop solutions to the complex challenge of advancing transportation throughout the region.   TFG has over 60 engineers and architects throughout the Northeast Region, with major design hubs located in New York City, Boston, St Louis and San Francisco. 
The position offers varied projects in the transportation field within the NY Metro Region.  The Senior Engineer position will work independently with supervision of a senior structural engineer. 
  • Work type includes designs in rail and bus stations, pre-k thru higher education projects, airports, transportation hubs, rail systems, as well a wide array of projects that lead and support the engineering divisions.  
  • Clients include NYCT, MTA Bus, LIRR, MNR, PANY&NJ, Amtrak, NYC SCA, contractors, and local utilities.
The scale of work varies from small to very large projects and offers the candidate the ability to continually switch between multiple project types on any given day, and offers tremendous exposure to varied disciplines within the New York Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Capable of leading junior engineering staff on various task assignments;
  • Responsible for the development of structural design, details and drawings, including calculations for new designs, rehabilitation and renovation work;
  • Capable of developing drawings in REVIT, AutoCad, and Microstation;
  • Strong capabilities and understanding in using structural software such as STAADPro, RAM Steel, and SAP (or equivalent);
  • Leading of field inspection teams for evaluation of structural systems of buildings;
  • Coordination with various engineering disciplines as well as with architects in the development of design contract documents

<div><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></div> <div><strong><br /></strong></div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Bachelor Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering;</li> <li>Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering;</li> <li>PE Licensed or capable of obtaining PE within 1 year</li> <li>5 to 7 years of experience in transportation related projects.</li> <li>Knowledgeable in state and city building codes as well as ASCE7 and material codes</li> <li>Understanding of construction documents</li> <li>Knowledgeable in STAADPro, SAP, RAM Steel or similar structural design softwar</li> <li>Proficiency of AutoCAD; knowledgeable in Microstation is a plus</li> <li>Experience within the transportation industry is a plus</li> <li>REVIT (or the ability to quickly learn)</li> <li>Excellent communication and writing skills and well organized</li> <li>Self-starter, able to work independently and able to multi-task</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></div> <div><strong><br /></strong></div> <div> <ul> <li>Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering</li> <li>NY/NJ/Connecticut area resident preferred</li> <li>PE Licensed or capable of obtaining PE within 1 year</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div><strong>About WSP USA</strong></div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
