WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Supervising Electrical Engineer for our New York office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling, coordinating, and performing inspections for movable bridges and preparing/submitting inspection reports to clients
  • Preparing contract design   documents(design plans, specifications and cost estimates) for rehabilitation or replacement of movable bridge electrical systems for clients
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Preparing construction cost estimates for designs and extra work on construction projects
  • Preparing design criteria documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, emergency power and other required systems for transportation related projects
  • Service utility coordination
  • Attending client meetings and preparing meeting minutes and field reports
  • Coordination with city and state permitting agencies
  • Project assignments may include, although not limited to, movable and fixed bridges, transportation centers, transit maintenance facilities, parking structures, and pump stations.
 
This is an excellent technical position for a proficient engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer with 10-15 years of experience in the design and inspection of heavy movable structures such as movable bridges, locks, and dams.
  • The candidate should have a BS or MS in Electridal Engineering with an emphasis in Power and Constrols Design
  • Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in transportation infrastructure projects
  • Highly motivated and able to work in the field and office.
  • Experience leading design teams to meet Owners’ needs within scope, budget and schedule.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems such as AutoCAD and Microsystems is desired
  • PE license or ability to obtain one.
  • Good communication skills at all levels, both in oral presentation and written reports
  • Work collaboratively with Owners to meet their needs
  •  Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
 
 
This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
