WSP is initiating a search for a Supervising Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer for our Lisle, Illinois project office. WSP is looking for an exceptional candidate to create innovative solutions for our clients.  This individual will be tasked with managing tasks as part of our Tollway General Engineering Consultant project, as well as further developing and expanding our ITS engineering practice in the Illinois market.  The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including the ability to manage and execute projects and tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  This role will require technical and project management experience, staff supervisory experience, and skills in developing business and managing client relationships.  This is an opportunity for those seeking to work on industry-leading projects both in Illinois and nationally. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Senior Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) project manager for the Illinois Tollway GEC ITS Team
  • Participate in meetings with tollway management to provide strategic guidance and assist with coordination of on-going design, construction, operations, and maintenance consultants.
  • Rely upon ITS engineering background to excel at client relations, business development and mentoring staff
  • Support business development strategies to be the top innovative ITS solutions firm in the area
  • Mentor staff in their technical and professional development
  • Lead a team of 5-10 engineers in the support of the tollway ITS program
  • Arrange meetings between team members and with clients
  • Keep detailed project notes and records
  • Develop project strategies
  • Create project schedulesCreate task lists for team members
  • Monitor progress
  • Manage weekly status reports
  • Keep team members updated on current information
  • Manage information flow within the team

Requirements

<div><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong><strong><br /></strong></div> <ul> <li> <div class="O0">Working knowledge of Illinois Tollway ITS Standards for Design, Specifications, Plan Preparation</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Working knowledge of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and how they will impact the transportation system</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Experience with the Illinois Tollway, Illinois Department of Transportation and with local County and City agencies</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Demonstrated ability to synthesize problems, think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Minimum 10 years’ experience in transportation industry</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Understanding of Fiber and Wireless communication design</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Familiarity with design of ITS devices including, but not limited to: CCTV, Vehicle Detection Systems, and Dynamic Message Signs</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Recent experience developing Asset Databases for ITS projects</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Experience reviewing ITS Submittal reviews including shop drawings, acceptance test plans, as-builts, etc.</div> </li> <li> <div class="O0">Drafting experience in MicroStation</div> </li> </ul> <div> </div> <div> Talent is the essence of meeting our client’s objectives, goals and challenges.  If this sounds like a fit for you, we’d love to have that first discussion of you joining our team.</div> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
