Senior Traffic Engineer

As part of this search, we are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our thriving transportation practice in Atlanta, Georgia! 
Position Description:  This position will be an important hire to help grow our Traffic Engineering practice. Position will report to Department Head and serve as project lead for transportation and traffic engineering projects, with the expectation that the candidate will assume a project management role within one year.
The candidate should have experience working in groups and have a desire to participate in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment as the traffic engineering group in our Atlanta office works closely with the planning, environmental, civil engineering and roadway design groups. The candidate should have initiative and a strong desire for learning and sharing knowledge, as he/she will be supervising entry level staff.
The successful candidate will work on transportation and traffic engineering tasks and projects including:
  • Intersection and corridor operational analysis
  • Signal operations evaluation and recommendations
  • Traffic forecasting/projections
  • Technical report/traffic study preparation
  • Signal timing analysis and implementation/fine tuning using MaxTime and ATSPM
  • Traffic signal and signing/pavement marking design
  • ITS design, including fiber/wireless communications and devices
  • Roadway concept design for turn lanes, intersections, sidewalks and pedestrian facilities
  • Bicycle facilities and complete streets design
  • Details and special provisions development
  • Cost estimate preparations
This opportunity is available for an individual who has completed a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldwith a focus on transportation engineering at an accredited program, and has minimum experience as outlined below.


<div><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></div> <ul> <li>B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university</li> <li>5 + years of progressive engineering design experience with emphasis on transportation engineering</li> <li>Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD and GDOT Design Guidelines and Standards</li> <li>Hands-on experience with traffic engineering software, including Synchro/SimTraffic</li> <li>Working knowledge of Microstation</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint</li> <li>Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills</li> <li>Must be able to work in the United States immediately</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></div> <ul> <li>M.S. in Civil Engineering / Transportation Engineering from accredited university</li> <li>Certification as Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)</li> <li>Experience in traffic signal design</li> <li>Registered Engineer in Georgia </li> <li>Experience in ITS design and fiber optic network design</li> <li>Experience in intersection, pavement marking, and signing design</li> <li>Knowledge of Advanced Traffic Signal Performance Metrics</li> <li>Experience with Traffic Signal Controller software such as Centracs, TACTICS and MaxTime/MaxView</li> <li>Knowledge and experience with any of the following software: HCS+, VISSIM, VISUM, Vistro, GuidSign, SignCAD, Arcady, ArcGIS, Sidra, Rodel, Microsoft Access, SQL, Oracle, ITS Architecture Software (SET-IT and ARC-IT).</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div><strong>About WSP USA </strong></div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div>WSP USA (formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff) is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms—WSP. Dedicated to serving local communities, we are engineers, planners, technical experts, strategic advisors and construction management professionals. WSP USA designs lasting solutions in the buildings, transportation, energy, water and environment sectors.
