We are seeking a Senior Transit Project Manager to make a significant contribution to WSP USA’s strategic plan to increase our project management and business development capabilities in the transit and rail arena within the Georgia region. The Senior Transit Project Manager will contribute as a member of multi-disciplinary team to transit fixed guide way planning, passenger and freight rail planning, and design efforts in the Atlanta, Georgia office. Responsibilities will involve managing and conducting a wide range of planning and design efforts including Alternatives Analyses, station area planning, short-range service plans, long-range vision plans, NEPA documents (EA’s and EIS’s), and feasibility studies for commuter rail, streetcar, bus rapid transit, light rail, and bus operations. This position is also intended to assist the Georgia region in expanding the practice in all or portions of transit and rail.
 
Responsibilities
  • Contributes as a member of multi-disciplinary teams to transit fixed guide way planning and design efforts
  • Manages or assists with a range of transportation planning studies, including needs assessments, transit modal analyses, traffic studies, NEPA documents, and long-range planning, and design efforts
  • Manages station area planning and design
  • Conducts multimodal planning efforts
  • Prepares and gives briefings and makes presentations to clients, the general public, and other stakeholders
  • Establish long-range plans, objectives, and implementation plans
  • Prepares and reviews written technical reports
  • Leads multidisciplinary team and coordinates with junior and entry-level staff and other sub consultants
  • Develops schedule and budget requirements and monitors project progress
  • Ensure the delivery of innovation, technical excellence and quality
  • Leads and/or participates in in key pursuit activities

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Transportation Planning, Transit Planning, Transit Engineering, or related field (Masters is a plus)
  • A minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Strongly established transit client relationships and industry contacts
  • Experience in delivering transit and rail planning and design projects such as Alternatives Analyses, NEPA, and other related studies
  • Experience working with Southeastern transit agencies and cities, Georgia based cities and transit agencies preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Increasing responsibility for interacting with clients, public officials, and the general public
  • Active in professional service organizations
  • Must have the ability to immediately work in the United States
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in planning, engineering, business or related field
  • Experience working with transit agencies and understanding Federal Transit Administration regulations and policies.
