WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part Time Shift Supervisor for our Ankeny, Iowa office. 
Shift Supervisor – expected to have expert knowledge of the roadways and the location and purpose of all ITS elements; oversee the operations of the TMC’s ATMS; aid in TIM; receive and coordinate department response on roadway concerns; oversee dispatching Highway Helper operators and maintenance crews for roadway deficiencies and snow/ice operations; and keep records on incidents, roadway concerns and call logs. They are the resource to the TMC Operator I, II & III’s during the shift and shall provide coaching plus on-the-job training. The shift supervisor will be the frontline management and shall provide oversight of the operations floor. Will be responsible for actively managing a small group of assigned staff. Will cover for any operator while on break. Shall be proficient in all TMC Operator I, II & III’s and will perform TMC operator duties as need during any TMC operator breaks or during busy/peak times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a small group of operations staff as a frontline manager/supervisor
  • Agency Point of Contact when TMC Management is not present
  • Subject matter expert for TMC Operators and the department. 
  • Act as an Operator as needed
  • Monitor the status of the Iowa DOT transportation network statewide and provide detailed written and verbal reports to the appropriate departmental personnel and partners.
  • Process and consolidate information received from multiple sources into clearly written situation reports.Facilitate coordination between other government agencies and municipal partners during incidents and emergency activations.
  • Compose, record and post information to the department’s ATIS system.
  • Ensure the TMC’s readiness as a coordination center during emergencies.

  • Dispatch Highway Helper and perform agency coordination.


<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Must have TMC Operator experience or equivent experience</li> <li>High School Diploma or GED</li> <li>Ability to read, write and understand English</li> <li>Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations</li> <li>Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written</li> <li>Ability to work alone with minimal supervision</li> <li>Ability to professionally interact with all levels of management</li> <li>Must have an aptitude for providing excellent customer service</li> <li>Proficiency with multiple computer systems, including but not limited to; Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and various GIS and web-based information systems</li> <li>Willingness to respond during weather emergencies and ability to work overtime when the need arises.</li> <li>Pass a Drug Screening plus Iowa DOT Driver License and Crimial Background Check</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>Some College education</li> <li>Supervisor experience</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
